There is no right or wrong way to journal through the Bible, and we don’t want to tell you what will work best for you. Instead, we offer a simple explanation of the system used in the podcast that you can feel free to adopt or modify. Whatever you do, we want it to work for you!

Green denotes key passages.

XP (pronounced like “Cairo,” in Egypt) are red notes for “Christ-centered” passages. We use the ancient Xp symbol, as it was derived from the first two letters of Christ, “Christos,” in Greek.

In the Old Testament, these are “types” of Christ. An Old Testament “type” of Christ is a foreshadowing or pattern that Jesus fulfilled. The Old Testament is full of prophetic “types” because they show how Jesus was God’s plan for humanity, and our salvation, from before the beginning. Jesus used a type in John 3:14. Paul used them in Romans 5 and other passages. Hebrews used them extensively.

Blue highlighted passages are Trinitarian in form or content. There are relatively few passages that show all three persons of the Trinity in one place, so we point them out along the way.

Verses highlighted in green, red and blue are favorite Bible passages.

WOW- “WORDS OF WISDOM” NOTES APPEAR THROUGHOUT THE JOURNAL BIBLE IN BLACK ALL-CAPS. THESE ARE LESSONS, PROVERBS OR WORDS OF ADVICE TO SHARE ALONG THE WAY.

PURPLE ALL-CAPS NOTES ARE PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS FOR YOU! Every podcast episode ends with a blessing. We encourage those who are journaling through the Bible to write blessings and prayers for whoever you are journaling for, so that you may be a blessing to them.

We offer this template as an example, to make it easier for someone to personalize their approach to journaling. Click on the links to our social to see lots of examples, and regular updates that will follow podcast episodes.
